Winner Best Children's Novel 2014: Preditors & Editors Readers Poll
Literary Classics Seal of Approval: Highly recommended for home and school libraries.
When thirteen-year-old Ethan Morus is forced to stay on his grandparents' old farm, he expects to find weathered barns, rusty tools, and a creaky house in need of fresh paint. What he doesn't expect is to hear a legend placing his family at the center of an ancient treasure hunt. Or find burial chambers protected by poltergeists, or a secret lair guarded by an ancient beast. And least of all, Ethan doesn't suspect that powerful sorcerers are watching his every move.

They've found Ethan and believe he is from a line of treasure hunters who possess a rare instinct to locate powerful artifacts. Whether he has the instinct or not, Ethan is faced with a choice--search the Morus property and find what they want or lose yet another family member.

At thirteen years old, Mel is too young to become a clan assassin, unless she can survive her master's death sentence. Mel was given the job of killing Ethan Morus, the treasure hunter, but she disobeyed and protected him instead. Now she's been tasked with ridding the land of the Black Rider, an ancient evil. If she falls to the demon, Ethan will stand alone against the Dark, and her master will have won. Yet she is not just any warrior and with victory, all will fear her. For she is Hellish Mel.

This collection includes Mel & the Black Rider, The Growing Darkness, Eldorian at The Council, and Nero: Before Book One. These stories provide a glimpse at what is to come in the next installment, The Hunter Falls: Book Two of The Morus Chronicles.

At the start of summer, no one, including thirteen-year-old Ethan Morus, knew that he’d been born with a treasure hunting instinct. Now that summer has ended, all groups desiring power are either seeking Ethan’s services or hoping to end his young life. Although he has pledged his allegiance to the Light, even they are leery of training him for fear the Dark may lure him to their side.

Ethan will face beasts and enchantments on this dangerous adventure, from deep below the water’s surface to high in the mountains. Yet his greatest enemies stand by his side as the line between Light and Dark blurs in the search for the Spirit of Steel.

Lucy Donovan was supposed to have a weekend of fun in the sun, celebrating her upcoming graduation from college. In a split second, everything changed. A drunk driver ended Lucy’s mortal life.
Lucy opens her eyes to a world she never imagined possible and a new destiny: as a Patronus, a guardian of spirits. Adjusting to her new role and abilities while negotiating this confusing realm will test her limits and push her further than she ever dreamed she would go. From wayward spirits who don’t want her help to soul stealing vampires, and even a stuck-up British royal, Lucy must brave them all to save one spirit she can’t bear to lose.
Further complicating her confusing life is an inexplicable yet growing connection she feels to a member of her team, Max, whose mysterious behavior leaves her both confused and intrigued.
Waking up dead was just the beginning of her problems. Lucy’s death is about to become the greatest adventure of her life.
Sarah started her obsession with reading at an early age, often sneaking BabySitter Club and Nancy Drew books into math class. She would read any book she could get her hands on. Her love of reading quickly evolved into a love of writing and stories began to pour out of her.
She grew up in Pittsburgh, graduated from The University of Pittsburgh with a degree in English, and taught eighth graders to love reading as much as she does for several years. Sarah will always be a proud member of the Steelers' Nation, but couldn't take the cold and moved her frozen tush to Florida where she now lives with her husband, daughter, and two cats. You will find her now with her trusty Kindle in hand and toes in the sand! Sarah's debut novel, AWAKEN, released in January, 2012. Other novels include AVENGE, ATONE, ECHO OF AN EARTH ANGEL, INHALE EXHALE, and NEVER GONNA TELL (Releasing March, 2015).

Review of Angels Dawn

Angels Dawn (The Dawn Trilogy Book 1)

Komali da Silva

Why is Angelo acting so weird around Bonita? Are they together? Are they really only friends?
Angelo may be trouble, but Dawn can't ignore her feelings for him. Dawn is at a crossroads. Should she choose love? Or friendship? Once Dawn finally finds the courage to choose, she thinks the drama is over. But Dawn wasn't expecting her choices to have such dire consequences.
Do you believe in love at first sight? But can one trust someone blindly? Can love overcome all the obstacles?

Is friendship just the beginning of love?

Review

My world is upside down! I really expected Angels Dawn to follow the time tested YA recipe. Clueless teen girl with no clue, evil villain, and handsome hero saves girl while girl discovers her own strength. Nope. I thought for sure that Dawn’s parents were bound to die and leave her transported into a supernatural new life. Nope.  It deals with so much more, real issues in the lives of young people.  The paranormal element is an undertone to the exquisite drama unfolding as Dawn tries to navigate true love, false love, friendships changing and discovering her new identity after a harrowing experience alters her life forever.  I can’t recommend this strongly enough for everyone but especially teens.

Review

This was a fast paced, action packed read. I easily got lost in the story and read it in one sitting. I fell in LOVE with these characters! There are a few surprises weaved into this story of revenge that capture many different human emotions. It’s so well written that I never realized there was a true love story that gave me goose bumps and all the other feels, making this book one that will stay with me long after the series is finished. I can’t wait to get my hands on the rest of the series!
